Audiological Evaluations

We offer a comprehensive audiological evaluation, which is a series of diagnostic procedures that can determine the severity and type of an individual’s hearing and understanding status. The clinic accepts self-referrals, physician referrals, and referrals from other healthcare professionals.

Speech and Language Evaluations

A speech and language evaluation is a series of diagnostic procedures used to determine the status of an individual’s communication needs. Our clinic is currently accepting pediatric patients ages 3-18. As with our Audiological Evaluations, we accept self-referrals, physician referrals, and referrals from other health care professionals.Ìý

Articulation

Articulation is the formation of clear and distinct speech sounds. Disorders or delays of this type are often characterized by additions, substitutions, omissions, or distortions of speech. Treatment in articulation often targets specific deviations or groups of sounds with similar patterns.Ìý

Language

A language disorder may involve the content, form, or use of language. Treatments can include stimulation of specific language forms and the development of skills to allow an individual to participate in everyday communication.

Fluency

Fluency is the smoothness or flow with which syllables, words, and phrases are joined together. Disorders in fluency often include stuttering and cluttering. Treatment of fluency involves the teaching of strategies needed and decrease the patient’s pathologies.Ìý

Voice

Voice refers to the pitch, quality, tone, loudness, or duration of one’s voice. A voice disorder may include any or all of these characteristics interfering with a person’s ability to speak. Treatment may include techniques to address the disorders and contributing vocal habits.

The West Liberty University Dental Hygiene Department recently hosted Mrs. Pam Quinones, RDH, BS, MS, the current American Dental Hygienists Association President. Mrs. Quinones is a graduate of the West Liberty State College Sarah Whitaker Glass School of Dental Hygiene. During her visit October 7-10th, Mrs. Quinones spoke to the current Dental Hygiene students, encouraging them to participate in leadership activities through the Student American Dental Hygiene Association, expand opportunities for the career of Dental Hygiene and care for their communities through service.
